Clones? What Clones? | Memories of Summer

This shot should give you an idea how packed the streets are. People get creative on picking up a spot to watch from. You see them up on the surrounding buildings (which I myself have tried before), looking through windows and often even stepping out of them and sitting on the ledge. Others stand up on tricycles or some other vehicle, while some just tiptoe [ their calves to death. 😛 ]. Some kids even get to be above the crowd.

With this spot though, I’m convinced I may have found a cloning factory in Dagupan!

On Top of the World. | Memories of Summer

During the Gilon-Gilon, the streets were lined up with lots of people wanting to watch the dancers as they perform around the city. There were barriers set to contain the spectators and make sure the performers had the space to perform.

Getting a good vantage point in the crowd was a challenge, and one had to really be creative in getting around and finding a spot, especially those like me who wanted to take photos.

Here’s a little guy who didn’t have to think about all that (and probably didn’t care). After all, he’s probably feeling like he’s on top of the world.

One Giant Bangus Please! | Memories of Summer

Dagupan City’s Bangus Festival happens every summer of the year. Obviously, it’s all about “bangus,” or milkfish.

If you haven’t seen one yet, well…here’s a giant one!

Bangus Dance. | Memories of Summer

These street dancers amazed me with their endurance. Here they are dancing again, lifting those baskets up, running around and switching places, all the while singing too!

They certainly put a lot of work–from the rehearsals to the actual Gilon-Gilon.

Gotta Test That Pod. | Memories of Summer

Selfies. I remember seeing our country, Philippines, ranking high in the number of selfies taken (based on posts on Instagram, if I remember correctly).

Monopods have become a common sight here, but it only started last summer, and the prices then were ridiculous. Here’s one lady I saw at the Gilon-Gilon really enjoying her pod.
